BIG & BULKY

Comforter, Bedding & Bulky-Item Cleaning
in Knoxville

Your home washer chokes on a king comforter. Our 60 lb and 80 lb machines don't. Bring the bulky stuff to 1021 Heiskell Ave and have it washed, dried, and fresh for a flat $15 per item.

WHAT QUALIFIES

The items that never fit your home machine

Some laundry is just too big for a standard top-loader. That's where our large-item pricing comes in: a flat $15 per item for the bulky pieces that need room to tumble. It covers the things Knoxville households wash a few times a year but can never quite handle at home:

  • Comforters and duvets — from twin all the way up to California king
  • King and queen bedding sets — heavy quilts, coverlets, and matelassé spreads
  • Pillows — down, feather, and synthetic fill
  • Pet beds — the washable-cover and stuffed kinds alike
  • Sleeping bags — car-camping bags and technical mummy bags
  • Blankets and throws — wool, fleece, weighted, and electric (cord removed)

If you're not sure whether something counts as a large item or a regular load, give us a call at (865) 281-3381 and describe it. We'll tell you the honest answer before you drive over.

WHY IT MATTERS

Why home washers can't do this — and ours can

A king comforter needs space to move. Cram it into a home washer and it wads into a dense knot: the detergent never reaches the middle, the rinse leaves soap behind, and the spin cycle throws the drum off balance until the machine walks across your laundry room. Then comes the real problem — a home dryer can't push enough hot air through a thick, damp comforter to dry the core, so it comes out mildew-scented and, worse, can start to break down the fill.

Our high-efficiency machines run from 20 lb up to 80 lb. A single comforter gets a 60 lb or 80 lb drum practically to itself, so it tumbles freely, rinses completely, and dries all the way through in one pass. The result is loft you can feel and a genuinely clean smell — not the damp, half-dry finish a home machine leaves behind.

TWO WAYS TO DO IT

DIY it yourself, or drop it off

You've got two easy paths, both priced the same at $15 per item.

Do it yourself

Load one of our big washers, pick your cycle, and pay with quarters, a card, Apple Pay, or your reloadable loyalty card — however you like. You stay in a bright, attended space with free Wi-Fi and free parking right at the door, and you walk out the same visit with everything washed and dried. Perfect if you like to handle your own bedding on your own schedule. See how it works on our self-service laundry page.

Drop it off

Short on time? Hand it over and our team washes, dries, and folds it for you — ready the next day. Large items are billed per item on drop-off orders, and everyday clothing on the same ticket is handled at our regular wash & fold rate. Browse everything we do on the services page.

CARE TIPS

Getting the best result from a bulky wash

A few small things make a big difference on large items:

  • Check the care tag first. Most comforters and pet beds are machine-washable, but a handful of dry-clean-only quilts and vintage pieces aren't. When in doubt, ask us.
  • Zip and close everything. Zip sleeping bags, snap duvet covers, and shut Velcro so nothing snags mid-cycle.
  • Pre-treat visible spots. Point out stains at drop-off so we can target them before the wash.
  • Dry down and feather fully. Down needs extra dryer time and a little air-fluffing to redistribute the fill — our large dryers are built for exactly that.

SEASONAL

When Knoxville brings in the big loads

Bulky laundry tends to cluster around the calendar, and we see the same waves every year:

  • Spring and fall changeovers — swapping the heavy winter comforter for a lighter quilt, then back again. Wash before you store so nothing goes into the closet holding odors.
  • After camping and lake weekends — sleeping bags and blankets that came home from the Smokies smelling like a campfire.
  • Guest-room resets — freshening the spare-bed bedding before family visits for the holidays.
  • Pet-bed refreshes — a monthly wash keeps dander and dog-park smell out of the house.

We're open 8:30 AM to 8:30 PM, seven days a week, and the last wash starts at 8:00 PM — so a Saturday-morning bedding reset or a weeknight sleeping-bag rescue both fit easily.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to wash a comforter?
Large and bulky items are a flat $15 per item, whether you drop it off or we handle it for you. If you'd rather run it yourself, a 60 lb self-service washer is $8.75 and the 80 lb is $15.
What counts as a large or bulky item?
Comforters, duvets, king and queen bedding, pillows, pet beds, sleeping bags, and heavy blankets or throws. If you're unsure, call (865) 281-3381 and describe it and we'll tell you before you come in.
Can I wash a king comforter myself at your laundromat?
Yes. Use one of our 60 lb or 80 lb washers so the comforter has room to tumble and rinse fully, then move it to a large dryer. Pay with a card, Apple Pay, quarters, or your loyalty card.
How long does drop-off large-item cleaning take?
Drop-off orders are ready the next day. Bring bulky items in during our hours and we'll wash, dry, and fold them for pickup.
Why can't I just wash my comforter at home?
Home washers are too small for a king comforter to move freely, so it doesn't rinse properly, and home dryers can't push enough hot air through to dry the thick core. That leaves a damp, musty finish and can damage the fill over time.
Do you clean pet beds and sleeping bags?
Yes, both are covered under our $15-per-item large-item pricing. Zip sleeping bags closed and point out any heavy spots so we can pre-treat them.
Can you pick up and deliver bulky laundry?
Pickup and delivery is available as an add-on to our wash & fold service. Call us at (865) 281-3381 for current route pricing and availability in your part of Knoxville.
What are your hours for dropping off big items?
We're open 8:30 AM to 8:30 PM every day. The last wash starts at 8:00 PM. We're at 1021 Heiskell Ave, near North Broadway and I-275, with free parking at the door.
